Hi my wife and I just bought a used Thule trailway bike rack and a new hitch from you guys for her 2009 ford edge. I need to buy a replacement 1 1\4-2inch stinger adapter and what screws to attach to the hitch.

The Trailway is basically the same as the Hitching Post Pro so for a 2 inch hitch adapter you'd want the part # 853-7489 that you referenced.

Then for a hitch pin you'd want the part # 7520990001.

It looks like the older 945 version of the Thule Hitching Post was designed for a 2" hitch so you may have a newer version that would require the Adapter #853-7489. If you can send me some photos of your current bike rack I can help you…

Yes the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device part #THSTL2 can be used to replace your old inactive Thule bolt part #853-5019--02. They share the same thread size and pitch and will be plenty long enough to secure your rack.

The Replacement 2 inch Hitch Adapter part #853-7489 that you referenced is made of aluminum, the pin hole is 1/2 inch in diameter and is 1-1/2 inches from the closer end of the adapter.

The small hole on the adapter part #853-7489 that the screw part #853-5787-02 goes into is not threaded. However, the hole on the stinger of your Thule Doubletrack TH990XT is threaded which you can see in the attached photo.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Thule Replacement Aluminum Shank Adapter, #853-7292. It is 10 inches long overall and 2 inches square. It is meant for use on Thule bike racks 954, 912, and 914.
