Parts Needed to Add Electric Brakes to Dexter 2,000 lb Axles
Question:
I have a 2000lbs, Dexter TorFlex Axle with brake mounting brackets and 15inch wheels I like to install electrical brakes on the trailer. Can I install 10inch Nev-R or do I need to go with 7inch brakes?

Expert Reply:
Since your trailer has a 2,000 lb axle you do have to go with a 7 inch brake assembly set like the part # AKEBRK-2 since there isn't a 10 hub/drum that will fit your spindle. The correct size hub/drum would be the part # 8-257-5UC3-EZ and you'd be set.
To convert the trailer wiring of your trailer to a 7-way you'd want the upgrade kit part # HS381-9000 and then 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by foot) for wiring to the brake assemblies.
