Troubleshooting Removing Cover from Thule Locking Cylinder Knob

Question:

We tried to follow these instructions to remove the cap on the knob so we can lock the bike rack to the tire assembly: Using screwdriver, remove plug from locking knob as shown. B. Using change key, lock cylinder into locking knob as shown. When we turned the screwdriver the plastic cap Plug bent and partially broke off. We didnt use brute force but are concerned that we wont be able to remove the plug, and lock the rack as we expected. Can you provide additional explanation for removing it, and providing us with a replacement part? Thank you.

Thanks for the photo and explanation of the issue. The plastic lock cylinder plug in the older model of the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Rack # TH963PRO will likely require a you to carefully drill out the plug at this point. Use a small drill bit and gradually get larger as needed without going too deep to remove the plug. You will need to find a way to rotate the plug 90 degrees to release or completely drill it out so you can use the lock cylinder in its place.

I've attached a video shat shows the installation at the 1:35 mark.
