Thule SpareMe Knob Doesn't Tighten Down All the Way on a 2012 Toyota RAV4 Spare Tire

Question:

Im having a difficult time getting the lock knob bolt to fit with the long or short mounting brackets and the long and short standoff extensions. I turn and turn and then it wont turn anymore. Like its reached the end of the extension but the lock knob isnt flush with the rack. I tried alternating the sizes but I still couldnt turn the lock knob at a point.

The problem that you are having with the Thule spare tire mount bike rack # TH963PRO is a result of the standoff extensions. If you were not using them the bolt would be able to thread all the way in the mount that attaches to your 2012 Toyota RAV4. But if you are using one of those standoffs the bolt can only thread so far into the standoff since it isn't hollow.

You likely do not have to use either standoff. But if you find that you do you can use the best combination of standoffs and shanks to get the rack to fit the best.
