To add a trailer brake controller to a 2006 Dodge Durango without the factory tow package you will need several parts. First you will need to install trailer wiring harness # 118390. I have included a link to a video and a link to the instructions showing how to install this harness.
After you install the 4-Way you will then need to install # ETBC7 which will provide the 7-Way and the wiring needed to install a brake controller. I have included a couple of links that will walk you through this installation.
And finally, you will need the brake controller itself. One of our most popular controllers of all time is the Tekonsha P2, # 90885. This controller is easy to set up and use which is why it is so popular. This is a proportional controller that applies the trailer brakes in proportion to how much the Durango is braking. I have included a link to the installation details for the controller and a link to an FAQ on brake controllers for you.
