The Plug-N-Tow Short Proof Powered Taillight Converter, part number 36365, will work for your vehicle and should isolate the amperage draw from the vehicles electronics only using the vehicles taillight circuits to signal the converter which function to perform and take the power from the vehicles battery to power the lighting on the trailer or accessory plugged into the connector.
I would recommend the 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit, part # C59496 for your vehicle though as the other kit is obsolete. This kit has everything needed to wire your vehicle and provides 9.8 amps of capacity which would be plenty of amperage for any trailer lighting situation with a Class I hitch. This kit works the same as the 36365 part, isolating the vehicle from the power drawn by the trailer lighting. The 36365 wiring harness has a 24 amp capacity and would be more than needed for a Class I system.
Either wiring harness kit will work and should isolate the trailer lighting functions from causing error messages on the vehicles computer.
