Looking Hitch Pin Recommendation for a 2012 Ford F-150 with 2-1/2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Span
Question:
will the 21/2 inch span in the middle be enough for my 2012 ford 150 receiver `because it measures 21/2 inches
asked by: Doug E
Expert Reply:
It will be a snug fit so if the outside of the receiver on your truck is 2-1/2 inches locking pin # BD580402 should fit. On each end of the pin, on the insides that face the inner span, it is tapered so there will be just enough wiggle room. It might be safer to go with span that is just a little wider like # e98880 that has a 2-5/8 inch span.
Then there is an extra long span on # e98881 that measures 3-5/8 inches inside width.
If 3-5/8 is too long and you do not want to chance a 2-5/8, then take a look at # 1480DAT which has a span of 2-3/4 inches.
