Does Curt Hitch # C11132 Require Use of Stabilizer Strap When Carrying Non-Supported Load
Question:
I see the CURT 13135 Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2-Inch Receiver for the Subaru Crosstrek, XV Recommends use of a stabilizer strap. Is this to prevent the rack from rattling in the hitch? Or to minimize rotational force? The reason I ask is my bike rack doesn’t use a pin to hold it, it’s a compressive force which is extremely tight. And realistically with a spoiler I don’t think there is any way to attach a stabilizer strap. I could lash the rack to the safety chain tie downs, but that wouldn’t separate the rotational force from the hitch and into the car. Do you have any recommendations where a stabilizing strap could go on a crosstrek with a spoiler? 2013

Actually the Curt hitches no longer require the use of stabilizer straps when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. So you would not need to use a strap with the # C11132. This was a requirement for several years but recently Curt changed this rating.
