Trailer Hitch and Rail Kit for 2014 Ford F-150 5.5 ft Bed to Tow 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
hello. i have been trying to find out some information with no straight answer. I have a 2014 Ford F150 crewcab 5.5 ft bed ecoboost with max tow package. i also have a 2018 Heartland Elkridge Extreme light E293 and a Curt E16 sliding fifth wheel hitch. My question is will my truck tow this camper and which brackets will i need to install the hitch?

We can help you get setup with a way to tow your 2018 Heartland Elkridge Extreme light E293 but since your 2014 Ford F-150 has a 5-1/2 foot bed (shorter than most short beds) your current slider hitch would not provide enough clearance to prevent cab and trailer nose interference. So what you'll need is a slider hitch that can provide about twice as much sliding clearance as what you have now with the Demco Hijacker UltraGlide part # DM8550041 which slides 22-1/2 inches automatically as you make tight turns.
Then for a rail kit that is custom fit for your truck and will work great with the Hijacker you'd want the part # DM8551001 and you'd be set. This is an underbed rail kit too which allows you to have a clean truck bed when not in use.
