Can Parts To Tow Trailer With 2016 Mazda CX-5 Be Transferred To Another Vehicle
Question:
Hello, thank you for a detailed website, that I refer to. We have a 2016 CX5 that I would like to use to tow a camper trailer and/or utility trailer. My wife wants to get a different vehicle in 1.5 yrs. Based on requirements, we have narrowed it to a Subaru Outback or Hyundai Tucson. Are there tow hitch, 4-pin brake light connector and 7-pin electric braking connector that are universal, so that I can put them on our CX5 and later switch over to the new vehicle?

I do have some great options for a 2016 Mazda CX-5 but most of these options (trailer hitch and basic wiring) are all designed specifically for said vehicle (custom fit) which is what allows you to install them without drilling into the frame or splicing into the vehicles wiring harness. I have attached a list below but some will be able to be transferred (universal fit).
Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76138 (Custom Fit)
Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C56310 (Custom Fit)
7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller part # ETBC7L (Universal Fit)
Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 (Universal Fit)
etrailer Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 (Universal Fit)
