Can I Open the Hatch on my 2016 Nissan Rogue With the SportRack SR70111 Attached

Question:

Sportracks website says Fit Tipinch but I cant find a guide that has been updated to include the 2014 and newer Rogues. The pre-drilled holes doe not appear to allow placement with rear hatch clearance. Is it safe to drill additional holes to accommodate?

The SportRack # SR7011 will fit on most factory crossbars, including the ones on your 2016 Nissan Rogue, but when it comes to allowing the hatch to open you will want to take some measurements to confirm. From the front mounting hardware on the SportRack Horizon Rooftop Cargo Box # SR7011 to the rear edge of the box there is a distance of 52-1/2 inches.

So, in order to determine if this will interfere with the hatch on your 2016 Nissan Rogue, simply measure from the center of your front crossbar back to the line where the hatch and roof meet. As long as this measurement is more than 52-1/2 inches the Horizon Cargo Box will work great and you won't need to make any adjustments.

The SportRack SR7011 can fit on crossbar spreads from 23-5/8" to 35", so in all likelihood you should be able to make it work without the need to drill additional holes. You also don't want the box too far forward as it will affect aerodynamics and create more wind noise the farther forward it is. You could drill some additional holes if needed, but I would recommend filling the existing holes with some Loctite RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker - Black - 2.7-Fl Oz Tube # LT37467 to seal it from any water getting in.
