What Prevents Kuat Transfer Bike Rack From Moving Around in Trailer Hitch

Question:

I currently have a curt 11085 and kuat transfer 2 on my 2008 Honda Accord sedan I only installed the hitch for bike portage and I’ll never tow with this vehicle. Been running this setup for years and it’s ‘fine’ but not great. The rack-hitch connection is not tight and I get a lot of random movement especially up/down while driving. 1/3 questions: 1. are support straps required helpful for this bike carrying setup? 2. In your opinion would a rack that has internal hitch tightening like the kuat nv 2.0 base or 1up systems alleviate this random motion? 3. is the drawtite receiver option for this vehicle ‘tighter’ than the curt I read that it doesn’t require cumbersome support straps? Thank you in advance for your time.

Your current Kuat Transfer has anti-rattle device built into it that maybe you aren't fully utilizing. When you install the hitch pin of the rack how tight are you getting the bolt that holds it to the hitch? It's designed to be tightened so much that it removes movement when travelling.

Support straps and a different hitch won't solve this issue. The Kuat NV base part # BA22B does have tighter clearances and also has a different anti-rattle device so it will be quieter though.
