How to Determine Correct Tail Lights for Boat Trailer

Question:

I lost the driver side light to my boat trailer. The boat is a 17 ft 2018 Mako Pro Skiff and it is the trailer that came with the boat. It connects via a three prong plug. The passenger side light has the number SAE S2 3 T 16 A P2 12 DOT on it. Do you have a replacement? Thanks.

There is a way for you to pretty easily find out the tail lights you need, although the SAE numbers just means it has been approved by the Society of Engineers and aren't a part number, and we don't have any way of knowing specific lights for any trailer. So you will simply need to measure your current tail lights and find the one that most closely matches your measurement, and also know if your lights are surface mounted or recessed mounted.

For example, the Optronics LED Combination Trailer Tail Lights # TLL160RK are surface mount lights which are 8-1/16" long x 2-7/8" tall x 2-13/16" deep

The LED Combination Tail Light Kit # TLL56RK are also surface mount lights which measure 6-1/16" wide x 3-5/8" tall x 2-1/4" deep.

Both of these are 3-wire lights like yours. If you let me know what your light measures and how they mount I would be happy to try and find the best replacement for you. I have also added a link to our entire selection of tail lights for you to check out, which you can filter by size once you measure your lights.

Based on my research, the Optronics # STL17RB is the correct driver's side replacement for your existing S2T216AP2 assembly.
