Recommended Solution to Tow 5th Wheel with Recessed Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 HD Mega cab with the ram boxes on it. I do have a 4 “ recessed ball ball on the gooseneck hitch. With the narrow box and short bed of this truck will the goose box work. This is what the rv dealer said I needed to get put on my rv ?Thank you for your help

I may have a solution for you, but we've found that the Reese Goose Box like the # RP85FR are not compatible with Ram Boxes. To allow your standard 5th wheel pin box to be compatible with the recessed gooseneck hitch on your 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 I recommend using the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset - 12" to 16" Tall # CAB-C5GX1216. This is an offset adapter that will connect to your 5th wheel king pin and allow you to couple to your gooseneck hitch to tow your trailer without switching the pin box or the hitch out; the offset will also be helpful because you've got a short bed truck, so this is an all around great solution.
