Towing Mirror with Maximum Extension for 2003 GMC Sierra 2500

Question:

Our tow vehicle is a 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. We just bought a new RV that is 100inch wide, and our old mirrors CIPA 10801 and 10802 do not extend far enough to see behind the trailer. Its amazing what a difference that additional 4inch in width makes! The CIPA mirrors otherwise work greateasy to mount and minimal vibration. 1. The Longview CTM 1500 appears to be a bit larger than the CIPA version. Would it help? 2. Except for the Longview version, everything else Ive seen is in one of two groups: a Clamp on or strap on mirrors, all of which are clumsy, dont look very good, and according to most reviews have too much vibration to really work well, or b extended mirror replacements which cost the earth and lose most or all of the additional functions on the mirror auto dim, turn signal, puddle lights, auto adjust. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

The Longview Towing Mirror, part # CTM1500 would extend just a bit more farther than the CIPA # 10801 and 10802 you are currently using. If you look at the provided photo I provided, you can see that the CIPA product extends 5-1/2 inches beyond the edge of the factory mirror while the Longview # CTM1500 extends by 5-1/8 inches. I do not believe the 3/8 inch larger extension offered by the Longview mirror would make much difference to you.

Even a Custom Extendable Towing Mirror like part # KS62075-76G would only offer an additional 4 inches of extension, although the mirrors are much larger.

If you are looking for maximum extension, the CIPA # 11650 Deluxe Door Mount Mirror would be your best choice. It is certainly not the prettiest solution, but the mirror is capable of adjusting up to 17 inches out from the vehicle and do not vibrate to the point where they are useless. This mirror is highly rated by our customers.

I have linked you to product demonstration videos for the Longview and the Door Mount Mirror.
