Recommended 2 Bike Platform Style Bike Rack for Step Through Frame and Bike with Fenders

Question:

One of our bikes has a step-through frame and front and rear fenders. Will the wheel mounts still work there?

Although we do have bike rack options that will work for you, the RockyMounts Monorail # RKY10004 isn't compatible with bikes that have fenders. In order to hold the bikes securely, the retaining hooks need to directly contact the tire right in front of the forks, which isn't possible with a fender-equipped bike.

You'll need to use a rack that holds the bikes by the top tube or seat post tube like the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount - Tilting # C18085. The rack will tilt rearward for cargo area access.

For a true step through frame with no crosstube whatsoever, you'll need a frame adapter bar like the Kuat # UB01. Even with the additional cost of the frame adapter, you'll still be well under the price point of the MonoRail.

I've linked to ta product democratization video for the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider as well as one for the frame adapter bar I recommended.
