Flat Towing Equipment for 2017 Buick Envision

Question:

Hi Guys I just bought a 2017 envision that is all set up with Blue Ox to flat tow. I have the whole set up already on my Winnebago, my question is What do I need to do to ready the car to flat tow? Previous owner and owners manual are NO help. Ive heard Start engine, Put in N, pull the 2 15 amp fuses, stop engine......? Thats it?

In order to flat tow your 2017 Buick Envision, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, a wiring solution, safety cables, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high/low adapter if the installed base plate height is more than 3 inches higher or lower than the receiver height of the motorhome.

I'm not entirely clear on what you already have, so if I list something you already have, please forgive me. For a Blue Ox tow bar, I'd recommend the Blue Ox Alpha, part # BX7380, The arms are non-binding and will self-align for easy hook up and removal. Safety cables are included. For base plates, use the Blue Ox # BX1518.

Now for the electrics, for a wiring harness use the Roadmaster Diode kit, part # RM-15267. You'll also need a fuse bypass, part # RM76512 so you don't forget to pull the fuses when flat towing (or forget to reinstall them later). You can bypass the fuses with just the flick of a switch. For a supplemental brake system, a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR is easy to install and remove without a complicated and expensive install. You'll also need a # RM-9332 12V outlet.

When installed, the base plates will be about 17-1/2 inches above the ground. If the height of the receiver hitch on your motorhome has a height that greater than 3 inches +/-, you'll need a high/low adapter. I've linked to our selection of those. I've also linked to install videos showing the base plates, wiring and the fuse bypass being installed on a Buick Envision.

From what the owner's manual states, you'll only need to turn the ignition on, and shift the transmission to N (Neutral). With the transmission in N (Neutral), turn the ignition off. To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove fuses 29 and 32 (which is where the fuse bypass mentioned above comes in).
