Can Equal-i-Zer System for 2 inch Hitch be Adapted to 2-1/2 inch Hitch with Shank Swap

Question:

Hello, I am needing to replace my 2 inch shank due to the purchase of a new vehicle, F150 to 2019 F250, so I have a height difference now. My question is since I will be upsizing to a 2 1/2 inch shank will I need to replace the head as well to fit the larger tube or does Equal-i-zer use the same head? Thank you

You will only need to replace the shank of your Equal-i-Zer system with one that fits the 2-1/2 inch hitch size and also provides you with the correct amount of drop to tow your trailer level. Thankfully the heads of weight distribution systems are all the same size and can be used with any hitch size as long as you match them to the correct shank. The shank part # EQ94FR is most likely the correct shank you'd need as it offers up to 9 inches of drop and does fit the 2-1/2 inch hitch size.

Other options are the part # EQ90-02-4900 which provides up to 6 inches of drop, and # EQ34FR.
