Towing a Travel Trailer With The Tailgate Down on a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Question:

I have a 2012 chevy 2500hd, I pull a travel trailer with this truck and am trying to carry our golf cart in the bed. The front wheels sit on my factory tailgate when its backed in the bed. I am interested in this one to see if it will give the clearance between the tailgate and the jack. Will this hold the weight of the golf cart while loading also ? Thanks,

Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate with Open Design for GM Trucks Item # VGM-07-100 has a 100 lb max weight capacity. However you can get a hitch extender and not replace your tailgate. As long as the extender sets your ball mount past the edge of your tailgate you will have enough clearance for the jack.

I recommend Brophy Hitch Extender with Step for 2" Trailer Hitches - 18" Long Item # RST18 if you have a 2" hitch on your truck. When used with weight distribution it gives you 650 lb tongue weight and a 6500 lb GTW. There is also the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long Item # C45048 which when used at 24" long with weight distribution has a max tongue weight 800lbs and GTW of 8000lbs. If used at 34" the weight is 600 lb max tongue weight and 6000 lb GTW

I have provided a a link to review videos of each so you can take a closer look to see what you think
