Is Bumper Trimming Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch C11286 on a 2013 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
Question:
I just watched your video for installing a hitch on an Impreza Hatchback. Im concerned about what looks like an opening that needed to cut in the bumper below and including the knock-out rectangle. Is that necessary to install this hitch on a 2013 Impreza Hatchback? There are photos a customer posted that dont seem to show the bumper being cut and even though the video seems to show a cut in the bumper, the video doesnt mention it.

I am not sure why the Impreza in the video has a large cut out in the bumper. It was a customer vehicle and they may have had something else installed there at some point. Trimming is not required for installation of hitch # C11286. I have included a link to the instructions so you can see for yourself that trimming the bumper is not needed to install the hitch.
For trailer wiring use # 118573 for a non-WRX/STi wagon. I have linked instructions for the wiring as well. The hitch comes with a ball mount, pin, and clip. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.
