Can a Friction Sway Control Be Used on Both Sides of a Trailer Tongue
Question:
I have a 1964 airstream safari, overall weight 300lbs ... and ... my breakaway battery box is on the right of the tongue looking towards the SUV and there is already a ball mounted 24 inches back on the left hand side of the tongue ... so is there a friction model that CAN be mounted on the left?? The Reese Friction Sway Control, # 83660, that you referenced can be used on both sides of your trailer tongue. You can simply remove the slide bar from the main body assembly and flip it over. The compression plate will be upside down, but it will still work.
This is one of our most popular friction sway controls and includes everything that you will need to install the bar. If you are using the sway control without a weight distribution system, then you will want to weld a sway control tab, like part # 3442, on to your ball mount.
