Recommended Transmission Cooler for 2015 Ford F-150 With 5.0L V8 Engine
Question:
Looking at the options for an additional cooler to assist with heavy towing through the Rocky Mountains. Is this my best option for additional cooling? If so, do I need any additional mounting kits? Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient Thanks!

A transmission cooler is one of the best things you can do for your 2015 Ford F-150 because towing is a stressor and additional cooling keep temperatures down, prolonging the lifespan of your transmission. For your truck the kit you mentioned is exactly what I'd recommend, the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13504.
This is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. Because you cannot over-cool fluids, the rule of thumb with transmission coolers is that size matters so the large 11" wide x 12" tall x 7/8" deep Series 8000 is going to give you great cooling efficiency. You do need to ensure that you have enough room for this cooler to fit your truck so you will want to measure. If not, you can go with the smaller 11" wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep # D13503.
You do not need any other mounting kits, and I have added links to the instructions as well as a video review for you to check out of Derale Transmission Coolers # D13503 and # D13504.
