Can the Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack Be Used On a Fiberglass Topper As a Lift Point
Question:
i have a Carry-boy fiberglass canopy and would like to be able to also lift the canopy off of the truck by hooking to the rails at four points. and then lowering the shell on to a set of saw horses. My plan is to set up two A-frames about 8 feet apart and string a 2x6 or 4x6 in between them like a swing set. that way I could make a single point harness with a simple block lift to suspend the canopy and DRIVE OUT FROM UNDER IT. THIS WOULD BE IDEAL IF THE ROOF RACK SUPPORTS WOULD TAKE THE canopy WEIGHT.

The Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack for Pop-Up Campers and Camper Shells part # S80510 has a 150 lb weight capacity. It looks like most are around 100-150 lbs so you should be fine using this as an attachment point for lifting although that is not really what it's designed for.
