Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2012 Jeep Wrangler for Lights Only

Question:

I have a 2012 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. The vehicle came from the factory with a max tow package which include a 4 way flat connector mounted under the rear bumper. I have a 20 foot boat and trailer that has the 7 way blade connector on it. The boat trailer has surge brakes so i need to put a 7 blade connector on the rear of my jeep that matches the seven blade connector on my boat trailer. Like i said the boat trailer has surge brakes so i need a reverse lock out to enable me to back the boat trailer. No electric brakes or brake controller is involved in this installation. Do you have anything that will make this set up work? Thanks

If you only need lights to work on your trailer then you can use # 37185 that you have referenced. You will plug in the 4-Way you have to this adapter. Then you will need to ground the white wire to the vehicle frame. The other wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way except the purple wire. That one will need to connect to the reverse light wire behind the tail light on the Jeep.

If you do end up wiring the remaining wires in later, the black wire is for 12 volt power and the blue wire would connect to the blue wire on a brake controller.
