etrailer Hitch # e95ZR is Making Contact with my Rear Bumper Cover of my 2020 Hyundai Palisade

Question:

I received this hitch last week and got it installed yesterday. It does not fit the Palisade properly and is bending the plastic on the Bumper. It is not listed anywhere in the instructions that the bumper would need to be altered/cut into. I fear that if I leave this on it will do long term damage to the vehicle and warp the bumper.

This is very common in hitches like the etrailer Hitch part # e95ZR. It is done to eliminate the need to trim the bumper cover and still get as much ground clearance as possible. It is likely that the bumper cover will get few blemishes on it since it is resting on it but this will not be an issue unless you decide to remove the hitch down the road. I recommend pushing the bumper cover back toward the front of the vehicle so it is gently resting on top instead of being bent rearward on the vehicle exaggerating the appearance.

As an alternative if you do not like the way it looks you can cut out the bumper cover around the hitch so it rest down and around the receiver tube opening instead of resting on top of it. This will have no ill effects on the hitches performance although it will alter the vehicle much more than if it were simply resting on top.

Thanks for the reply, just a heads up there is no way to push it forward as it is already flush against the hitch.
