Can Curt Stabilization Strap be Used on a Trailer hitch Mount Cargo Carrier on a 2012 VW Jetta
Question:
I recently purchased a Curts class 1 hitch for this website and installed it. i know this product is for a bike rack only but I want it to strap it onto my cargo carrier. My questions is....how long is this strap and will it be long enough to reach the end of the cargo hitch when its empty and/or when its loaded with stuff?

The Curt strap, # 18050, can be used with a cargo carrier as well as a bike rack. The strap length is adjustable from 20 inches to 35 inches. Based on that you should be able to determine if it can be used for your application.
Even though Curt has this strap, you could use any similar strap if this one is not long enough. You will just want to avoid using bungee cords or anything that has similar elasticity because the stretching of that type of material would not work to provide stabilization and reduce stress on the hitch.
What you could do is use the Curt strap in conjunction with adapter # Y02612. The large cylinder end stays inside the trunk or cargo hatch and you route the strap through the gap between the car body and the truck/hatch. Then close the trunk/hatch on it. You could then tie off the Curt strap to the end of the adapter strap for additional length.
