Best Bike Rack for E-bike with Rear Battery
Question:
Hi there I bought the Saris MTR 2 for our two Townie Go 7Ds. But they have rear mount batteries that are housed in a rack over the rear tire - picture attached. The bike shop made an error in ordering this for us as the battery/rear rack interfered with the rack - had to return it. Suggestion for a two e-bike rack, with rear mounted battery - with ramp for loading and tilt out feature? Thanks!

The Thule EasyFold XT 2 # TH903202 is the best option for you on your 2010 Acura MDX. It holds the bike by the frame with a unique style that makes it easier to attach to a step-through bike frame compared to traditional frame mount style hooks.
It has a weight capacity of 65 lbs per bike which is well above the average weight of your Townie Go 7D. To make It easier for loading your bikes it comes with a ramp to help with assisting your bike in place and they store In the bike rack when not In use. The ramp is 36" and may be at too steep of an angle for heavier bikes. The Extra-Long Loading Ramp # TH933402 is 53" giving you a more gradual angle to get your bike loaded. The one downside is they are too long to store In the bike rack. I attached a video below about it. Tilting the bike rack away is much easier compared to others because the lever is at the back of the rack. It also tilts pretty far away giving you great hatch clearance.
It folds up pretty compact when not in use and it also has rollers to make It easy to put away when you don't want it on the back of your MDX.
One thing I recommend is taking your battery off of your bikes when traveling down the road. It will save you weight but it also takes some of the vibration stress off of your battery. I attached a video we made about the rack below.
