Recommended Replacement For Shorted Out Taillight Converter on 2017 Honda Pilot
Question:
I have purchased 3 curt wiring harnesses and all have failed. one in less than a year and the the other two within a month. My 2017 honda ridgeline that came with a wiring harness has no issues with my trailer. My brother has towed my trailed with his lexus with no issues. i checked ground etc... I was wondering if this is a problem with curt harnesses? They all failed with right turn signal not working. Which replacement will work? you have any suggestions why this occurscar wiring has checked out perfect?

Typically, when a converter box lets loose, it's caused by a short circuit in the trailer wiring. A nicked wire or loose connection or maybe even a rusty bulb socket causes a short circuit which causes a spike to feed back into the converter which destroys it. All it takes is one hard to see nick in the wire insulation that's not easily seen.
Although this isn't a great occurrence and is certainly a nuisance, the good news is that the converter did its job and prevented feedback into the Pilot's taillight wiring and possibly causing damage. Although the trailer in question worked without issue on a different vehicle, it still might be worth examining the right turn circuit in the trailer wring, if only to prevent any future problems.
Over the years we've seen that on some vehicles, certain brands of trailer connector harness just seem to work better than others without there being any good reason for it Since you've had issues with previous Curt wiring harnesses, I'd recommend going with the Tekonsha brand harness, part # 118760. We've seen that Tekonsha taillight converter harnesses seem to be the most reliable of the brands we carry, so as long as there aren't any intermittent shorts in your trailer wiring, this should solve your problem.
Although after doing three of them you're probably more familiar that you want to be with the installation process, I've linked you to an install video in case you need a refresher.
