Towing Equipment Needed for Towing 2 Small Motorcycles With 2017 Toyota RAV4
Question:
Hello, We have a 2017 Toyota RAV4 LE. It is a FWD suv and automatic. We purchased it used and doesn’t have any towing equipment. I’m looking to purchase two Honda Groms and would love to be able to tow it with our current vehicle instead of renting a uhaul truck. The groms are 235 lbs each. I will be purchasing a trailer for the bikes. But I don’t know which trailers just yet as I want to find out if I’ll be able to even tow the bikes and a trailer.

From what I've found online, your RAV4 has a 1500 lb towing capacity. As long as the trailer you choose weighs less than 1030 lbs (which shouldn't be a problem) you'll have no trouble whatsoever towing them.
You'll need a hitch, a trailer wiring harness, a ball mount and a trailer ball. For a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class III, part # C13406. This hitch features a concealed crossbar, the only portion of the hitch that will be visible is the receiver tube ad the safety chain loops. For a wiring harness, use # 118578. For the ball mount, use # 2753 which includes a hitch pin. For a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch.
