Roof Rack and Compatible Cargo Box for 2020 Mercedes Benz GLS 450
Question:
Hi, will either the Yakima Grand Tour 16’ or 18’ cargo box fit my 2020 MB GLS450 SUV? Which cross racks are compatible with these cargo boxes? I have raised, factory side rails on the vehicle. Thank you.

In order to allow the rear hatch to open with a cargo box like the Yakima Grand Tour # YA74FR attached, you will need at least 48" from the center of the front crossbar to the line where the roof meets the rear hatch. We have not tested this to confirm for ourselves (because of you've got a new model year vehicle), but Yakima does list both the Grand Tour 16 # YA74FR and 18 # YA84FR as confirmed fits on your vehicle.
In order to carry these roof boxes you will need a roof rack kit that will attach to the raised side rails on your 2020 Mercedes GLS 450. The Yakima Roof Rack Kit that uses parts # Y00426 and # Y33TR is a great choice because it's guaranteed to be compatible with box roof boxes, and the aerodynamic JetStream crossbars will help reduce the wind noise that often accompanies a roof rack.
In order to protect your investments I do recommend adding lock cores that are keyed alike for the Yakima Same Key System with part # Y07206. This kit comes with 6 lock cores and are a great add on because it will allow you to have locks on the roof rack and cargo box that all use the same key.
