Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2017 Honda CR-V and Bike Rack for Electra Townie Step Through
Question:
I have an Electra Townie 7D EQ step through bike with fenders that I would like to transport with a Honda CRV. I have been told that the hitch that can be used with this car is 1 1/4. What is the most reasonable and reliable car bike rack that you would recommend for this situation. If possible, I would like to be able to carry 2 bikes. Thank you

For your 2017 Honda CR-V you can definitely use a 2" trailer hitch receiver and this is the route I recommend because it will give you much better options for a bike rack to carry your Electra Townie 7D EQ with a step-through frame and fenders. The best hitch for your '17 CR-V is the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76128 because it has the best ground clearance, which is important since you will be using the hitch for a bike rack.

With a larger hitch, your options for a great bike rack for your Electra Townie 7D EQ open up. Since this rack has fenders you will need a frame-mounted rack, and for that I recommend the the Saris Freedom # SA4412B.
At less than 30 lbs it is extremely lightweight which makes it easy to use, it has the ability to tilt and fold, and also has a shank that rises 8 inches for optimal ground clearance to help ensure it doesn't touch the ground. The Freedom # SA4412B will be extremely stable due to its included anti-rattle hitch pin and the ratcheting padded cradles that grip your bikes by the frame.
This bike rack also has a lever that you only need to push to fold the rack up or tilt it down, which is a quality-of-life feature that makes it really easy to use. It comes with the aforementioned anti-rattle hitch pin, but you can use the Hitch Tite Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock # SA3022 to lock the rack to your hitch and the Saris Cable Lock # SA981 to lock your bikes to the rack.
I've added a link to a video review for you to check out as well of the Saris Freedom # SA4412B.
