Is There Any Way To Lower the Connection When Towing With the Bumper On a 2009 Ford Van

Question:

Hey I have a 2009 Ford 2500 work van with a towing bumper rated for 5000 nabs built in the bumper [3/4inch hole for a ball] . . . . which is too high for a small to medium utility trailer. Is there an adapter to the height? Current bumper height is 20inch [ground to top of hole]

Expert Reply:

The main drawback of towing via the bumper is that the height is fixed so you won't be able to raise or lower the connection point to tow level. Therefore, you will need to invest in a trailer hitch which I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75703. Then you can get the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount part # C45900 to tow any trailer you want.
