Curt Trailer Wiring Harness # C59496 for 2007 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
Question:
Will this work on my vehicle? Work all lights and turn signals?

Expert Reply:
The 4 Pole Wiring Harness, part # C59496 is indeed the correct wiring harness for your vehicle.
It will hardwire into the vehicle by tapping into the existing wiring harnesses behind the tail light assemblies. The kit includes a circuit tester that can be used to identify which vehicle tail light circuits provide which function.
For example, the yellow wire on the converter box taps into the left turn signal circuit. Activate the left turn signal and use the metal tip on the end of the provided tester to pierce the insulation on each wire in the harness until you locate which wire lights up the tester. You will repeat the same process for the running light, brake light and right turn circuits. The white wire will ground to the vehicle, and the battery feed would be ran under the vehicle (avoiding pinch points and anything hot like the exhaust components) to the positive battery terminal.
