Question:

I need to carry 3 kayaks on the rooftop of my 2016 Mercedes GLA 250. I initially put the following Thule items in my cart but thought I should check first to be sure this was going to work for me. -Wingbar 711200 -Rapid Podium Feet TH460R -Compass Kayak Carrier TH890000 -Hull-a-port Carrier TH834 Thanks for your support :

In addition to the # TH711200 and # TH460R you will also need the foot pack # THKIT4049 to complete your roof rack kit. This will give you a great looking roof rack with aerodynamic crossbars that will reduce wind noise that normally comes with installing a roof rack.

With that said, the issue you're going to run up against is twofold. First, the crossbars are only 47" long, and fitting 3 kayaks is going to be a tight squeeze on those bars; secondly, although the # TH711200 crossbars have a 220-lbs capacity listed the capacity of the roof on your 2016 Mercedes GLA Class might be less. You will want to consult with your owner's manual to make sure you can carry the weight of your 3 kayaks in this manner without damaging the roof.

As long as all 3 of your kayaks aren't more than around 40" total when you add up how tall they are off the ground, I recommend using 2 of the Thule Stacker # TH830 to attach your kayaks to your roof rack. If your kayaks are longer than 10 feet you would need to use the Yakima JayLow # Y04073. Both of these carriers come with load straps to secure the kayaks to the carriers and the vehicle, but you may need an extra set of tie downs for this so you can use the Yakima Tie-Down Ropes w/ Ratchets and Strap Loops # Y04031. These would provide the best solution with the smallest footprint to allow you to carry 3 kayaks on your roof.

I've linked some informational and installation videos of some of these parts for you to have a look at as well.
