Oil Drip from Unidentified Small Cooler Attached to Transmission on a 2006 Chrysler 300

Question:

2006 Chrysler 300, 3.7L I cant find anything that refers to this softball finned cooler with 2 hoses that go to the radiator. It looks like an oil cooler found on a motorcycle size wise. I cant order something that cant be found. It has developed a small drip from one of the hoses. No picture available on any site.

It sounds like it could be a transmission cooler. What you can do is when the vehicle is cold, start it up and place it in drive for about 10 seconds or so. Then return it to park and turn off the motor. Feel the hoses and if one is noticeably cooler than the other then it is a transmission cooler.

Coolers are normally found inside of the radiator. It is possible that someone has installed a supplemental one on the vehicle if there were other owners before you. If it looks like # D13260 then it is a transmission cooler.

If you do not think that is what it is then if you can email a picture of it I can try to determine what it is. In the mean time, you may just need a new hose or to tighten the connections. I do not recommend using any sort of product like thread sealed tape or a sealant because those items can break down and end up floating around in vital vehicle components causing all sorts of mischief.
