Will Replacing Incandescent Lamps With LEDs On Trailer Cause Hyperflashing

Question:

Hello, I am inquiring about the Bargman LED triple taillight 47-84-009 as an up grade for my 1995 Gulfstream class c. Will the taillights work normally with no flasher changes? I was going to get the incandescent model than noticed the LED model. I know that some vehicles require a different flasher for LED turn signals to work normally. Thank you kindly for any info you might have,

Expert Reply:

Some vehicles, most commonly higher-end European vehicles are equipped with bulb out sensors which cause the turn signals to hyperflash if the vehicle thinks the bulbs are burned out. Because LED bulbs only draw a fraction of the power that incandescent bulbs do, the vehicle will think a bulb on the circuit is burned out and cause the turn signals to rapidly flash (hyperflash).

We offer load resistors, part # DI34ZR that you can install on the turn signal circuits on the trailer that will fool the bulb-out sensor and prevent hyperflashing.
