Trailer Hitch Compatible with 1983 Jeep CJ-5 and CJ-7
Question:
Hi I need an inexpensive trailer hitch receiver for my vintage 1983 Jeep. I need to mount it to my existing ball hitch that has a 6 inch spread between the holes for the bolts is there an item you can recommend?

Without the model of Jeep, I can only give you fit options.
For a CJ-7 or CJ-5 we have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13412. For any other models we unfortunately do not have a hitch receiver available. I know that isn't the economical option you were seeking but it is the only option. Most models in that year don't have any option for a hitch receiver. You can see the locations of attachment and support on the hitch # 13412 are not what you were describing so the strength needed for towing is in the back and side frame.
