Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and 7-Way/4-Way Wiring Harness for 2017 Honda Pilot
Question:
I am looking to buy and install the etrailer e98840 on my 2017 honda pilot. Following advice from question-214117 I have see the wiring harness 118286 is the best for the 7 pole that I need for my popup. However, occasionally Ill pull a utility trailer with 4-pole. Looking at images for the Drawtite, I see someone used a 7 and 4 pole HM40975 on their pilot. Wondering if there is a recommendation to make this work with etrailer parts and if so what wiring harnesses Ill need to do the 7 and 4 if that is possible. Thanks

The etrailer Trailer Hitch # e98840 is a great option the is a custom fit for your 2017 Honda Pilot. Since you mentioned wanting etrailer parts, I highly recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98840.
For your wiring I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118286 which will give you the converter and wiring for a brake controller which you will likely need for your camper as most require trailer brakes on the 7-way. I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 with wiring harness # 3070-P for that simple connection.
You can absolutely swap out the standard 7-way trailer connector with the # HM40975 which directly connects to the wiring harness. Your other option is to use an adapter for your 4-way like # C35FR.
