Air Conditioner Replacement For Dometic 59136.331 That Ran Out Of Freon

Question:

Hi there... we have two units. One quit blowing cool air last summer. Can the freon be charged in this system or will it need a new replacement? Also... which unit would be the best replacement? THANKS Dometic 59136.331 repair/replacement

The Dometic air conditioner units are sealed therefore they cannot be recharged with refrigerant. The only option is to replace the unit. Since your unit is a 15,000 BTU unit I recommend to replace the AC with a unit at least 15,000 BTU.

I recommend Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup w/ Start Capacitor part # ACDOM150 which is a 15,000 BTU system that will easily plug into your existing Dometic setup without replacing wiring. As long as your air distribution box and thermostat are in good working order this system will allow you to keep those. It also has a start capacitor so it doesn't use as much power when starting up so it's easier on your generator or power source.

If you want to replace everything because you are not sure what is wrong with the Dometic system, I recommend to use Advent Air Conditioner part # ACM150CH which comes with air distribution box, AC unit, thermostat and even has a heat strip to knock the chill off on summer mornings.

If you have ducts in the RV and don't use an air distribution box, I recommend part # ACM150 which comes with a thermostat. You can add the heat strip part # ACMHD and start capacitor part # ACMSCKIT. The video I have attached is for installing the ACM150 from scratch.

What specific component are you referring to? The air conditioning unit would be connected to your RV/trailer's power source.
