Weight Distribution System Compatibility for Curt Hitch Receiver on 2011 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hello. I have a Curt 13534 on a 2011 Highlander Hybrid. In this expert answer to a previously asked question - https://www.etrailer.com/question-38791.html - you assert that there is no weight distribution option for that hitch. Then I found this video from Curt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkewkvU8Ot8, as well as other references for that hitch that say it is compatible with WD options. Can you please clarify your previous expert opinion that this hitch cannot be used with WD? Thank you.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13534 is not rated for weight distribution systems according to the manufacturer. Most Class III hitches are but there are exclusions and this is an exclusion. I've linked the page to all the hitch options to assist. The hitches that are confirmed to fit/use weight distribution systems will have that separate weight capacity listed. I assume the issue is the fit on the vehicle as other brands do have WD weight options listed but they are identical to the hitch weight without it which is rare. Regardless, the Curt hitch you have should not use WD because the manufacturer does not rate it for compatibility.
If you wanted the WD System for sway control, there are other options like the Tuson Asymmetrical Sway Control System - 1 to 4 Axles # 335TSC-1000 for example.
