Installing a brake controller on your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado is going to be slightly different from a typical brake controller installation because there are going to be additional wires under the hood that must be connected and the tow package wires for the brake controller will be bundled together with white tape just left of the brake pedal.
If you do not have a factory 7-way connector at the back of your vehicle, then you will also need to pick up the Pollak Twist-in, 7-Pole Connector, # PK11916. I have attached a video of our technician installing this connector on a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado.
The wires under the dash that you will use will be the red, dark blue, light blue and white. You will not use the orange wire. The red wire from the vehicle harness will connect to the black wire from the brake controller. The dark blue wire will connect to the blue wire on the brake controller, the light blue wire will connect to the red wire from the brake controller and finally the white wire will connect to the white wire.
The two wires under the hood that need to be connected are the brake control power wire, located directly to the right of the power distribution box and should have a ring terminal on the end. This ring terminal will hook to the left post on the front of the power distribution box. The other wire is the 12 V power lead for the trailer connector. This wire will connect to the right post on the front of the power distribution box.
I have attached a help article on installing a brake controller on your truck that you should find helpful.
