What is the Material of Terminals on 12 Volt Outlet Power Socket # DG6112VP
Question:
what is the material of the barrel/tip contacts? The steel outlets that I have used have enough resistance that they heat up, destroying the power plug on my 5 amp draw 12 v frig.

The terminals on the 12 Volt Outlet with Waterproof Cap, part # DG6112VP are made of coated copper.
This power outlet is sufficiently rated (20 amp) to handle the 5 amp draw of your 12 volt fridge, so you don't have to worry about the terminals heating up enough to melt or damage the plastic casing on either of the plugs.
It's more likely that a loose connection or a frayed or expose wire may have caused it to overheat, so you'll want to check for any of that while you're replacing the plugs. Installing a 30-amp auto reset circuit breaker # PK54530 inline with # DG6112VP using 10-gauge duplex wire # 10-2-1, would be my recommendation.
