Which Seal Do I Need For BT8 Spindle With Bad Seal in Hub

Question:

I have a trailer with the BT8 spindle. Should there be some sort of sleeve at the area where the grease seal rides? It is roughly finished and I have trouble with moisture ingressing and contaminating the grease. The current seal has no number on it but I think it is a 34823 after some research on your site. Can you shed some light here?

Some people use a sleeve on their spindle if it is damaged but we do not carry those. The BT8 spindles do not come with sleeves though. If you are getting moisture in the grease the seal is bad. The BT8 spindles do use the # 34823 seal which measures 1.249" inner diameter. I recommend to replace the seal because it sounds like its bad. Also be sure not to overfill the hub with grease, overfilling the hub can blow out the grease seal, which would allow moisture and contaminants to enter the hub.

The whole bearing kit for your spindle is part # BK1-100.
