Why Is Capacity of Hub 8-247 Lower Than GVWR of 2006 Trailmanor 2720SL
Question:
Im looking at hubs and brake plates for 2006 2720SL trailmanor. . AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. It is rated at 3500 lbs...yet the GVWR on the Trailmanor is 4000 lbs. Can you help me understand this? It seems you would need higher rating than GVWR...but the 4400 lbs drums are 6 lugs. Mine are 5...

The reason a hub - as well as an axle - is sometimes rated lower than the GVWR of a trailer is because some of the trailer's loaded weight is going to be tongue weight, which is weight that is going to be applied to the tow vehicle as opposed to the trailer.
If your 2006 Trailmanor 2720SL has a hub that is part 8-247, the correct replacement hubs are going to depend on if you have a standard axle or E-Z Lube Axle:
- Standard Axle: Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles # 84546UC3
- E-Z Lube Axle: etrailer Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K
I have added links to video reviews of both parts for you to check out as well. For grease you can use the LubriMatic Mini Grease Gun Kit with Multi-Purpose Grease # L30132 and Bearing Packer # PTW1218.
