Choosing Correct Weight Distribution Shank

Question:

I’m trying to figure out the correct WDH Shank to get to go with my new truck. Reese 113066 Hitch Head I have 2 different shanks. 1 is way to high and the other is too low/long. Also hoping to get a 2.5” to match the receiver for a change. What measurements are best to narrow it down? The hitch head is so tall, it throws me off.

To determine the amount of drop you'll need your replacement shank to have, take a height measurement from the top inside edge of the receiver tube to the ground, then measure from the bottom of the trailer's coupler to the ground (make sure trailer is level when taking the measurement) then subtract the coupler height from the hitch height. The result is the amount of drop you'll need.

We do offer weight distribution shanks for 2-1/2 inch receivers, and the hole spacing for the weight distribution head to mount is standard, so any of them will be compatible with the head used on your older Reese weight distribution system.

For a 1-1/4 inch drop, use # RP54976

2 inch drop, use # C17131

3 inch drop, use # EQ90-02-4700

4 inch drop, use # EQ90-02-4800

6 inch drop, use # EQ90-02-4900

9-1/4 inch drop, use # C17132
