Correct Lift Kit for #10 Torflex Single Axle on Lance 1575 Trailer
Question:
I see in your FAQ, that there are two lift kits for my Lance model 1575 trailer one that works with a #9 torflex axle and another that works with a #10 torflex axle. Question: How do I know which torflex is what #? the following torflex axle is? Part#SC160-45 AXLE TORFLEX HF=74.5 IP=59 SA=45 DT RC3500 but not sure what # that is #9 or # 10? The issue is that I want about 5 inch of lift for my trailer. I am trying to figure out how to safely obtain that. I would need to replace my axle with the above from Lance to get approx. 2 1/2 inch of lift and if your kit which one? works with that new/replacement axle I would get my 5 inch or so. Can that be safely done? My other option is a local RV firm has said they can manufacture a new bracket and use my current torflex axle and get me the 5 inch in one shot. I am starting to doubt the advisability of that move your feedback on that would be appreciated as well. Thank you,

A #9 Torflex axle is rated for 1,000 - 2,200 lbs so since your Lance 1575 weighs well over 2,200 lbs dry I'm confident you have a #10 Torflex axle (which can be rated for 2,300 - 4,000 lbs). With that in mind, since you have a single axle trailer you need the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-707-01 which provides 2-5/8" of lift. Please note that if you have it mounted from the top then you also need the Side-Mount Frame Installation Hardware Kit # DX54FR to complete the installation.
Just please note that the lift kit cannot be used if the Torflex axle has 3" high profile brackets.
In all honesty if the RV place that you spoke with is reputable and does good work then I don't see any reason to doubt what they have said. Usually for something that is custom like your application you need to have a welder do some work on it, and that welder needs to be experienced with trailers as they are a little different than typical weld-work. It would be worth noting that if some custom work like that was done then I'd imagine that your warranty would be voided.
Not to give you more things to look at, but we do have another solution that might work out better for you since you're looking to replace your axle and will need to install a lift kit as well. We have the Timbren axle-less systems which are really easy to install plus they use a different type of suspension system and you don't have an alxe installed (although some applications might need a crosstube). You mentioned wanting about 5" of lift and while the Timbrens don't deliver 5", we do have 4" lift options with part # ASR35HDS05 (heavy-dtuy) or # ASR3500S06 (standard-duty). I have attached an installation video for this option if you want to check it out.
