Question:

Isnt this alittle over kill for what I need though? Theres so many options to choose from and my main concern is I need a 4 in drop for my trailer to be level are there any wdh that have that much of a drop on the shank?

The best option for sway control and weight distribution for your 2009 Jayco Jay Feather 17C that has a tongue weight of 400 lbs is the Reese Strait Line part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and features the best sway control at fighting to prevent sway from starting.

For a hitch ball then you'd want the # A-90 and you'd be set.

The tongue weight range of the # RP66082 is perfect for the trailer you so it would not be overkill, but since you need 4 inches of drop you would need to go a slightly different route. You'd need a shank that can do the 4 inches of drop like the part # FA92-02-4214 with the version of the Strait Line I mentioned that does not include a shank part # RP66072 and you'd be set.
