Bed Rails and Hitch Recommendation for Towing a 5th Wheel RV with a 2014 Ram 1500 with RamBox

Question:

2014 ram 1500 5.7 with short bed and cargo boxes need 5th wheel hitch. I think the bed is the 5 1/2 but not positive. Going to be pulling a 32ft 5th wheel camper

Since you have the RamBox kit on your 2014 Ram 1500 you'll need to go with the same setup whether you have a 5-1/2' or a 6-1/2' bed. It's simply because the RamBox sits too close together so the pin box from your 5th wheel trailer will make contact with them unless you use a Sidewinder pin box (which rotates on a turret that sits above your truck bed rails). Let me know what pin box number you have on your camper and I can help you with a replacement.

Then for a 5th wheel hitch you'll actually use a stationary one. I really like the Reese M5 # RP30928 which installs in your truck bed with the Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # RP50142-58. The M5 uses a single piece, wrap around jaw to connect to the king pin and a wide funnel to help make hitching easier. It also uses a 4-way pivot head to help give you a smooth towing experience.

Attached are some review videos for you to check out and a helpful article on Sidewinders for you to reference.
