Reciever Hitch for my 2020 Somerset E3 Deck Pop Up Camper.
Question:
Hello, I have a 2X6 inch box frame and would like to add this to my pop up camper to double tow my ATV trailer. Max tongue weight and tow weights on my ATV trailer are 220/2700. My average trailer tongue weight and trailer weight on my e3 are 550/3800. It’s legal to bumper pull doubles in Colorado and have researched the safety aspect with keeping all loads balanced. My question is purely on the install. The local weld shop told me I can’t trust the bolt on kit here. That I’d have to weld it on. They want 900 plus to fabricate a hitch receiver. Can the bolts alone be trusted to the max weight listed on this hitch. Or is it recommended to weld them on also?

The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for part # 13703 is rated for 350 lbs. of toungue weight and 3500 lbs. of gross trailer weight. In your situation you would be well below the stated maximums and using the bolts to install the hitch to your frame would be perfectly acceptable.
Of course please check with your camper's manufacturer to ensure that your camper is rated for towing once you have found that you do not want to exceed the lowest weight rating of the camper, hitch or trailer.
I've included an installation video of the hitch below. Check it out.
