Best Weight Distribution and Sway Control for 2014 BMW X3 Towing Forest River Rpod
Question:
I have a 2014 BMW X3 that I plan to use to tow a 2017 Forrest River RPOD trailer that we just purchased. Im interested in a weight distribution hitch with sway control although I understand BMW stability control will help with sway I would rather eliminate as much of it as possible at the source. TW for the trailer is around 300#. GVW for the trailer as loaded is around 3500#. Hitch receiver is rated for 300/3500# w/o or 400/4000# with WD. Would prefer to have the ability to back-up. Top of receiver is approx. 12 inches off ground, car level top of coupler on trailer is approx. 20 off ground, trailer level so assume I will need a rise of 5-6 + ball height. Do you have any recommendations that I should consider?

Thanks for all the info on your setup! The Reese Strait Line system part # RP66082 is perfect for your setup. It has the correct tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs, the best sway control to fight sway before it starts, comes with a shank that will give you the rise you need and will allow you to back up as long as you stay mostly in a straight line.
For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
